Media shake-up faces backlash - The Australian

MEDIA companies are preparing to mount a public campaign against the Gillard government's plans to oversee the press as last-minute talks fail to produce a compromise on ways to regulate news and current affairs.

The industry campaign would replicate a British advertising blitz that urges voters to reject state intervention in the press because it would stifle news reporting of government wrongdoing.
