Canberra trio found guilty of plotting to kill mate - Yahoo!7 News

Three Canberra men have been allowed to remain on bail after a jury found them guilty of conspiring to murder a friend in 2008.

Alexander Raymond Iacuone, 23, Alexander James Duffy, 24, and another teenager who cannot be named, have been on trial in the ACT Supreme Court for conspiring to murder a 17-year-old.

The court heard he was chased through bushland beside Lake Tuggeranong and bashed with a baseball bat, before he eventually escaped by running into the lake.

The men were pulled over by police in 2008 driving a car containing a shovel and a boot lined with a shower curtain.

The court heard that was in anticipation of carrying and burying the body of their friend.

All three pleaded not guilty to the conspiracy to murder charge, however Iacuone and the teenager admitted to the bashing.

After a two week trial, the jury found each of them guilty of conspiracy to murder.

Justice John Burns continued their bail, saying they had previously complied with conditions.

The trio will be sentenced in November.
