Canberra pub Mooseheads liable for missing Burgmann House college sponsor ... - Yahoo!7 News

A university college has successfully won its case to force a large Canberra pub to pay out nearly $9,000 in missing sponsorship money.

Burgmann House is a residential college of about 350 students at the Australian National University.

For nearly 14 years its residents association has been sponsored by the Mooseheads Pub to provide cash, cheap drinks and regular keg nights in return for emblazoning the pub's logo on all the association's clothing and merchandise.

But in 2011, things went wrong when an envelope containing $7,000 for the college went missing from behind the bar.

The pub claimed someone in a Burgmann jumper came in and collected it, but staff did not remember their name or write a receipt and the college maintained it had never received it.

Recently the standoff went before the ACT's Civil and Administrative Tribunal where it has now been ruled that Mooseheads is still liable to pay $8939 to the college.
