Phil Mitchell writes: Cronulla have put their season back on track with back-to-back victories against Wests Tigers and Newcastle and are suddenly only one away from rising to as high as fifth on the ladder. But the resurgent Raiders will be a massive hurdle for them this weekend, especially if injured Sharks skipper Paul Gallen is sidelined again.

It was Canberra who knocked Cronulla out of the finals last year with a 34-16 win and, following a spluttering start, the Green Machine is chugging along beautifully again. After four victories in their past five matches, Canberra have risen from last place to seventh and in-form stars such as centre Blake Ferguson have burst into NSW State of Origin contention. Jonathan Wright will have his hands full marking his former Sharks teammate.

Phil's tip: Raiders by eight

AAP writes: Both teams come into this in good form and chasing three straight wins. The Raiders have beaten Melbourne and Newcastle on the back of an exciting backline led by centre Blake Ferguson. Cronulla looked strong last week in dispatching the lowly Tigers and have been getting home on the back of a hardworking pack. The Sharks have beaten Canberra in 19 of 27 games at Cronulla and go into this match as favourites. The Sharks coped without captain Paul Gallen last week due to injury but face a much bigger task without him against the Raiders.

Key: The Raiders must remain committed to their attacking style and not be overawed by a hostile crowd at Sharks Stadium.

SHARKS: Michael Gordon, Sosaia Feki, Ben Pomeroy, Jonathan Wright, Beau Ryan, Todd Carney, Jeff Robson, Andrew Fifita, John Morris, Ben Ross, Luke Lewis, Wade Graham, Chris Heighington. Interchange: Isaac De Gois, Sam Tagataese, Jayson Bukuya, Anthony Tupou, Mark Taufua (one to be omitted).

RAIDERS: Reece Robinson, Sandor Earl, Jack Wighton, Blake Ferguson, Edrick Lee, Terry Campese (capt), Josh McCrone, David Shillington, Matt McIlwrick, Brett White, Joel Edwards, Josh Papalii, Shaun Fensom. Interchange: Anthony Milford, Joe Picker, Dane Tilse, Paul Vaughan, Shaun Berrigan (one to be omitted).
