BRISBANE Broncos players get judged on the grand finals we win.

You only need look at The Courier-Mail every Monday to see that people judge the Broncos on premierships. It's not about the number of games you played or the size of your contract.

I hope this current Broncos side are hungry to win competitions.

Look at Johnathan Thurston, he stayed at North Queensland so he could win a premiership. I hope the young men of today realise that. It seems they are making decisions just based on money nowadays.

Nobody spoke about how much money Arthur Beetson had when he died, but they all remember the game he played for Queensland and that was just one game.

I don't want anyone coming to the Broncos or staying here if it's just about the money.

From all reports, Corey Norman is getting offered a ridiculous amount of money by Sydney clubs in comparison with what he has achieved in the game.

Big money: Norman follows cash to Eels

Corey is a great talent but I hope he is going south because the club is a chance to win a premiership in the life of that contract. If not then he is only going for the money.

Look at Israel Folau. Money doesn't always make you happy.

Sadly, it is the clubs who are creating this situation because they are so desperate to undercut each other they are throwing money at these kids.

With this new TV deal, it's like the clubs are just throwing money around willy nilly. It's not that they're investing in their future, they think because we've got all this money let's just buy a premiership instead of earning one and building for a title.

The reason I came to Brisbane was to play for the jersey. I understand it was a different era then, but those reasons were what made the Broncos what the club is today.

People such as Gene Miles came to play with Wally Lewis. Through the years players have to come to Brisbane to play with champions such as Allan Langer and Darren Lockyer.

Robert Craddock: Broncos should avoid Norman

We expect results of the Broncos. We expect a top-four finish and having a shot at the title.

This group now needs to leave their own legacy and have kids out there wanting to come and play with the Broncos and be part of that culture.

It brings me to Josh Dugan. I'm happy for him to come to the Broncos if he buys into our culture and wants to win premierships.

Can he play footy at his best? Absolutely. But from all reports he lost the playing group in Canberra because he didn't put his body on the line. That cannot be accepted and would never be accepted at the Broncos.

If I'm Anthony Griffin I'd be telling Dugan you don't lie down here. At this club we play tough football and uphold the highest standards set by the originals who started this club.

Alfie was not 100kg and six-foot tall like you Josh Dugan, but I never saw him lie down once.

Players have always put their body on the line at this club and I don't expect any different of any player that puts on the jersey today.

We can't cheapen the Broncos jersey.

I know blokes have buggered up off the field in the past, but the Broncos have never really gone and recruited a bad egg.

They've had guys that have been bad and have stuck with them because they've seen the good side.

If Dugan goes to any club it should be after the NRL is satisfied he will uphold the values in his role as a footballer.

If that club is Brisbane, then it will be a test of captain Sam Thaiday and his leadership group to get the best out of him.

It would be a clean slate for him here in Brisbane and he is a great talent who can turn matches, but he should be coming here for a premiership and not the money.
