WEST Australian Premier Colin Barnett has cast the state election as a referendum on who can be trusted to manage the economy at a crucial juncture in relations with Asia, while reminding voters the last time Labor was in power its ministers "embarrassed and discredited" the state in marathon corruption hearings.
Mr Barnett stated his case for re-election before driving home the events of five years ago, when five Labor ministers were dismissed or forced to resign in the midst of inquiries by the state's Corruption and Crime Commission into the dealings of former premier turned lobbyist Brian Burke.
