No case in sport drugs probe: top cop - The Australian

THE Australian Crime Commission did not gather any new information about organised crime or doping in sport through telephone taps as part of its 12-month intelligence operation, which Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Ken Lay says has not provided any basis for a criminal investigation.

As state governments, sporting bodies and player associations seek more information from the ACC to back its claims that organised crime has infiltrated Australian sport, ACC chief executive John Lawler told The Australian no telephone intercept warrants were sought as part of Project Aperio. He said the only intelligence obtained from telephone taps had been passed on from other sources.
