The new National Rugby League club membership campaign, You’re the Difference, is pretty powerful, with the players reminding themselves about the importance of their fans.

It’s almost a kind of blink-and-you-miss-them kind of thing, but the five Raiders fans who appear in the TV and online commercial are thrilled to be part of the campaign.

And all of them are committed members of the Green Machine, hopeful the team can pull off what could be a difficult first-round win on Saturday night against the North Queensland Cowboys in Townsville.

Public servant Josh Ryan, 26, answered the Raiders’ call for fans to participate in the campaign, submitting a written statement on why he loved the team and photographs of him as a fan through the ages, right from when he was a little tacker. He then enlisted some mates and fellow Raiders supporters.

‘‘I don’t remember not being a fan,’’ he said. ‘‘It’s just like, they’re the home town team.’’

Local tennis coach Robbie Manzano, 25, said he’d been recognised a lot since the ad went to air.

‘‘People love it,’’ he said.

Public servant Stephen O’Rourke, 28, said they would be on tenterhooks on Saturday night.

‘‘We hope they do well this round,’’ he said.
