The fallout from the Canberra Liberals preselection battle continues with former party president Gary Kent resigning.
Zed Seselja ousted then senator Gary Humphries from the top spot on the Liberals Senate ticket in a preselection vote in February.
Many party members raised concerns they were denied a vote, and Mr Kent pushed to have Mr Seselja's preselection overturned.
He launched legal action in the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal against his own party saying he was denied access to documents about the controversial preselection and the party's financial situation.
In response the party launched disciplinary action against him.
On Wednesday night Mr Kent fronted a disciplinary hearing to respond to the charges where he resigned.
Mr Kent says he was not going to receive natural justice and says he has lost confidence in the party's executive.
In a statement, the Canberra Liberals management committee says there are well established rules for handling disciplinary matters and a clearly defined set of rules for members to abide by.
