Half-time Sprint Competition at Canberra Stadium set to reward local speedsters - Canberra Raiders

The Raiders and ActewAGL are set to reward seven of the quickest rugby league players in the Canberra region with the opportunity to participate in the half-time sprint challenge that takes place during the NRL semi-finals.

One representative from each of the fifteen junior rugby league clubs in the Canberra region will be invited to contest in the 100 metre sprint at halftime of the Raiders match against the Sharks at Canberra Stadium.

Following the race, the fastest seven players will go onto represent the Raiders in a relay race against the other NRL clubs during the NRL semi-finals.

ActewAGL will be the match day sponsor on the day and will be supporting the race by giving away prizes to the fastest participants.

“My little son plays in the local league competition in Canberra so I get to see a few games each weekend and I know that there are some real speedsters out there,” Tom Learoyd-Lahrs said.

“The half-time sprint challenge is a great opportunity for young rugby league players in the area to represent the Raiders at half-time of the NRL semi-finals which will no doubt be a great atmosphere.

“I know that I’ll definitely be watching so good luck to all participants and it’s great to see that the Raiders and ActewAGL are continuing to support grass roots rugby league in the area.”
