Raiders rewarding local rugby league for Centenary Match - Canberra Raiders

Raiders rewarding local rugby league for Centenary Match

As part of the Centenary of Canberra match on Monday night, all 29 junior and senior clubs in the Canberra Region Rugby League will receive 100 tickets each to the Raiders v Broncos.

The 29 clubs encompass rugby league at all levels in the ACT and surrounding regions, with teams involved in Canberra Junior Rugby League, the Canberra Raiders Cup and George Tooke Shield.

The Raiders have instigated this initiative with the idea being to thank all of the locally based clubs for the contribution they make to rugby league in the region and to help continue the strong links with the Raiders and grass roots rugby league in Canberra and surrounding areas.

Canberra Raiders CEO Don Furner said the Centenary match was a huge occasion for the Raiders and the club wanted to use the match to showcase the popularity of rugby league in the ACT in Canberra’s 100th year.

“Rugby League has been a part of Canberra for the majority of Canberra’s 100 years and the Raiders were in fact born out of the local competition,” Furner said. “We see this match as the chance to celebrate Canberra’s birthday and also the links we have to our local competitions and local people.

“We would like to thank Canberra Stadium and Ticketek for joining us in this initiative and hopefully we see a big crowd at Canberra Stadium on Monday night to see the Raiders get a win in their Centenary jerseys.”

This ticket promotion is one of the many ways the Raiders reward local rugby league players for their commitment to the sport, with every junior player already receiving a season pass to all Raiders home matches each year as part of their registration with the CRRL.

The ticket giveaway for Monday night’s match is the chance for the local rugby league clubs to reward 100 people within their own clubs, and the Raiders hope to see a mix of players, parents, club volunteers and local club corporate supporters at the Broncos match.

The “Winter Wonderland” promotion being rolled out by the Raiders this week has resulted in some positive pre-sale activity, with a high likelihood that Monday’s match will see a season high crowd attendance turn out at the match.
