THIS time next week we will know the result of the first Test in Brisbane but in truth we aren’t looking any further than Tuesday’s match against the Brumbies in Canberra.
Alun Wyn Jones is tackled during the match between Waratahs and Lions
Everybody in camp realises what is around the corner, which is a good thing. And from my point of view it has been about making the most of opportunities.
You want to put a decent performance in and be putting your hand up, letting people know where you are and what you’re doing.
The boys who don’t make the Test team are going to be very disappointed but that is the nature of the sport and of this tour.
But on the flip side, whoever isn’t involved has got to be ready to step into the breach because those games are going to be pretty intense.
The momentum is growing and growing and it’s not arrogance that people are mentioning that we can go through this tour unbeaten. It’s because we are pretty confident. Obviously it could be a different story by the end of the tour but a Test series win is what we want.
The momentum is growing and growing
Whether it is 2-1 or 3-0 it doesn’t matter, and we know the Australians are exactly the same, but we are not going to be arrogant enough to say we are going to win 3-0.
We have been looking to build upon performances. The Reds game was the biggest test before we played the Waratahs.
I said in the week after the Combined Country game that we had a lot of opportunities that we didn’t take but on the whole we have been pretty clinical.
Things are really starting to click into place but as always there are things that we can work on and improve.
But hopefully the more time we spend together the better things will get.
