Runners swap outback for icy Canberra - Yahoo!7 News

Six indigenous men have swapped the outback for frosty Canberra as part of their preparations to run the New York marathon in November.

The Indigenous Marathon Project squad is in Canberra for a five-day camp and is braving the icy mornings on training runs.

Justin Miller from Katherine, Colin Sampton from Yulara, Luke McKenzie from Murray Bridge, Tali Tabuai from Saibai Island, Jack Wilson from Townsville and Nathan Djerrkura from Yirrkala have their sights set on running the world famous New York marathon.

The group will reunite in July for the Gold Coast half-marathon.

Champion marathon runner Rob de Castella directs the program.
