Chief Minister Katy Gallagher remains hopeful of reaching an agreement with the Federal Government on the proposed Gonski education funding reforms by the end of June.
Prime Minister Julia Gillard said at the weekend that ACT schools would lose about $40 million if a federal Coalition government failed to implement the reforms.
Ms Gallagher said the ACT Government was studying the Federal Government figures and continuing negotiations.
"The issue comes down to funding: what it means, what it looks like per school,'' Ms Gallagher said.
"Under the school resourcing standard, it looks like the majority of the money would go to the Catholic system schools in the ACT, the government schools would probably remain as they are now and then the non-government schools would see less growth funding than they have factored in now.''
Ms Gallagher was confident that an agreement could be reached with the Federal Government.
"We do need to reach agreement on what the figures are, we do need to reach agreement on what the final money coming from the Commonwealth, and we need to look at what it means for a system that is well-resourced and high-performing.''
