RECENT media reporting on progress to acquire the Joint Strike Fighter for the Australian Defence Force has missed the most important point: How many aircraft should we buy.
Right now there is limited justification to buy the proposed number of "about 100" aircraft. The matter is seriously complicated by the purchase of Super Hornets.
