IF you are reading this, the sky hasn't fallen in and Fairfax's lap-band surgery of its two central mastheads, The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald, has succeeded thus far.
But the excitement hides a looming problem: with Canberra heavyweights Lenore Taylor and Katharine Murphy to leave for the Guardian, Fairfax is struggling to find reporters to beef up its political coverage.
