St George Illawarra coach Steve Price will head out to Leichhardt Oval on Saturday afternoon in the hope he finds the remedy to his attacking woes.
Dragons halfback-in-waiting Josh Drinkwater will get a golden opportunity in Saturday's NSW Cup game for Illawarra to stake his claims for a first-grade debut in what looks an NRL audition for the former Manly playmaker.
Price needs to inject some life into what has become a rather stale and predictable attack, with Drinkwater shaping as the most likely solution.
''I'll get out there tomorrow at Leichhardt - I think they play the Bulldogs,'' Price said after the Dragons' 22-6 loss to the Broncos on Friday night.
''I'll get out there and have a look at him. I've seen the video [of his first game] and I thought he had some good touches there. He understands what he needs to improve on his game, so hopefully we see those signs tomorrow.''
While Drinkwater impressed in his brief stint in the Charity Shield, he was taken off the paddock by Illawarra Cutters coach Paul McGregor with 10 minutes remaining in the round-one loss to Newtown.
Just like they did in Melbourne less than a week ago, the Dragons struggled to score points against the Broncos at WIN Stadium on Friday night.
They've now scored three tries in 160 minutes of football, including an intercept try from five-eighth Jamie Soward.
Price was pleased with the side's discipline with the ball but was far from excited by what he saw from his troops in attacking zones.
''It was a tough one to take,'' Price said. ''We completed [our sets] reasonably well even though they were exceptional with their completion rate. We had our chances in the first half and we came into half-time at 6-6 which was a little disappointing. We have far too many temporary lapses with our attack at the moment.''
The Dragons did plenty of work in the off-season trying to spice up their attack, but that hasn't shown in the opening rounds of the season.
That hasn't been lost on the coach, who admitted he was disappointed with the output of his side with the ball.
''I was anticipating that it would be flowing a lot better than it has been,'' he said.
''But it is round two and we'll continue to work hard and get it right. There's a number of things I feel [are going wrong with our attack] but I'm not going to go into great detail.
''It's important we get it right on the field then you guys can talk about all the good things that we're doing.''
Captain Ben Creagh reiterated the coach's sentiment but took some positives out of the impotent attacking display.
''At times it was pretty frustrating,'' he said.
''I thought we were pretty patient in the first half. I know we didn't score too many tries but we were trying our best to complete our sets and that's the only way to get points - keep the opposition under pressure.
''I think we did that, we just came so close at times.
''A few held up, a few drop balls and a forward pass to me as well. We had opportunities but we just did not finish off.
''In the second half after 10 minutes we did go away from the game plan a little bit.''
The Dragons will be keen to avoid starting the year with three consecutive losses but will need to overcome their Canberra hoodoo next Sunday to break their duck.
''Records are there to be broken aren't they?'' Price said.
