A DRAFT of the forthcoming defence white paper has justified the cuts in the defence budget, arguing that the return to budget surplus is important to Australia's defence.
An extract from the white paper, which has been obtained by the Coalition, will be used by its Treasury spokesman, Joe Hockey, in parliament today to advance his attack over the abandoning of the commitment to achieve a budget surplus this year.
