MARK Dreyfus was in a cabinet committee meeting in Canberra when a note was passed to him asking him to go to the Prime Minister's office. It was Tuesday, January 29, and Dreyfus, the cabinet secretary, made a list of the things he needed to raise with Julia Gillard.
He never got to tick off that list.
