Scrapping FIFO benefits would hurt - The Australian



MINERS have slammed proposals by a parliamentary committee that could strip them of tax breaks for fly-in, fly-out workers in regional Australia and raised fears the plan could be used to offset the mining tax shortfall.



The industry warned that if the proposals were adopted, they would add to the costs of developing projects, strand some far-flung mines without workers and undermine a way of sharing wealth from the boom across the nation.
