IT'S that time in the electoral cycle when the sphincter tightens. With about seven months to go members' and senators' jobs are on the line, particularly in marginal seats where a swing of 5 per cent against them will ensure that their first call the Monday after the election will be to Centrelink.
It is hard to imagine anyone in the Coalition getting sweaty palms or loose bowels. That doesn't mean they shouldn't have the Joe Blakes, for funny things happen on the way to the polling booth.
