MARRIAGE breakdowns always lead to harsh words, particularly from the deserted party. In the heat of the moment, uncomfortable truths that would otherwise remain unsaid are often uttered. And so it has been with the end of the affair between Labor and the Australian Greens.
The bluntest comment probably came from Climate Change Minister Greg Combet. "I don't see any particular significance other than Senator Milne's trying to do a little bit of product differentiation," he said in the hours after the split on Tuesday.
