Business slams cut to foreign workers - The Australian

BUSINESS has accused Labor of caving in to populist fear of foreigners by announcing a "crackdown" on skilled-worker visas, as union leaders use the changes to step up pressure to scrap a landmark migration scheme meant to fuel the resources boom.

Company directors and industry groups lashed out at what they labelled a "knee-jerk" response to union pressure to turn away the temporary skilled workers, warning that the moves would damage employers and cut growth at a time of skills shortages and low unemployment.
