Joy over a rare WNBL win may be shortlived for Canberra Capitals captain Jess Bibby after taking an extraordinary swipe at Basketball Australia (BA).
Bibby (21 points) helped seven-time champions Canberra down dead-last West Coast 72-60 in Perth on Saturday night, snapping a nine-game losing run - one shy of their club record.
But the livewire guard may face disciplinary action after claiming BA was stuck in the 'dark ages' when it came to promoting the WNBL and that their main priority was the men's NBL.
A BA spokesman did not wish to comment on Sunday but Bibby quickly received support from fellow WNBL players on social media.
Bibby - a 17-year league veteran - was riled after BA stopped Canberra from live-streaming their home games citing poor quality and fears it may affect negotiations with potential broadcasters.
'It just goes to show the care factor really isn't there. They're not interested in getting this league to the best it possibly can be,' Bibby told The Canberra Times newspaper.
'The NBL gets live TV and we can't even get one club trying to live stream games.
'We're still stuck in the dark ages a fair bit.'
Bibby also claimed WNBL players no longer had access to the Virgin lounge at airports on road trips - but NBL players did.
'It just goes to show (at) Basketball Australia the WNBL isn't considered as highly as the NBL is,' Bibby said.
Bibby's claims come after it was revealed the Boomers men's basketball team flew business class to the London Olympics while the Opals travelled in economy.
Among Bibby's supporters was the sister of cricketers Shaun and Mitch Marsh - West Coast WNBL player Melissa.
'SPOTONJESS!!' she tweeted.
Canberra teammate Brigitte Ardossi also backed her skipper.
'I stand by her (as do the rest of us in the WNBL) 1000 per cent,' she wrote on Twitter.
Injured Opals star Lauren Jackson tweeted: 'I would say she has some valid points. BA is in the middle of restructuring, I am interested to see what they have in the works.'
There was also encouragement on WNBL clubs Bulleen and Townsville's official Twitter account.
Bibby also tried to keep up the fight on the court.
She had a team-high 15 points in their 98-67 loss in Adelaide on Friday night before sparking Canberra (third-last; 6-12) to victory in Perth.
Canberra may be without their big name forward Jackson (hamstring) for the rest of the WNBL season but Adelaide (3rd; 12-6) welcomed back theirs - Suzy Batkovic - on Friday night after missing last round's two-game road trip with neck soreness.
She finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and four steals to help keep Adelaide's top-two hopes alive.
But entering that club will be easier said than done after Bendigo (1st; 16-2) and Dandenong (2nd; 15-3) maintained their impressive form.
Backing up from Friday night's 77-69 home win over Sydney University, Bendigo emerged 80-71 victors at Logan on Sunday - their fifth straight triumph.
And Dandenong are also on a five-game run after overcoming Sydney University (second-last; 5-13) 78-72 at home on Sunday and outlasting Bulleen (5th; 7-11) 83-72 away on Saturday night.
