Sydney Blue Sox (18-16) missed a chance to take sole ownership of second spot with a 3-1 series loss to Adelaide, which put the Bite (16-18) back into playoff contention.

The two sides split the opening two games before the Bite took the last two games of the series with Stefan Welch driving in the winning run in the final clash in the bottom of the 10th inning.

In Melbourne, the Aces (13-21) downed the Brisbane Bandits (14-19) four games to none to earn their first series sweep of the season.
