US President Barack Obama and the Pope will be among 2000 people who will receive a Melbourne-designed Christmas card from Julia Gillard.
Those on the Prime Minister's Christmas card list also include British PM David Cameron, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, various community and business leaders, Labor MPs and even journalists.
Ms Gillard has again decided against a formal card with a photo of herself and partner Tim Mathieson, and will keep up her tradition of sending cards from the charity Oxfam.
This year Ms Gillard has chosen a gold bauble on a dark background by Francis Maurice Design in Fitzroy North.
Last year her card featured Christmas trees on the beach and the year before it was baubles on the beach.
Inside the PM's card is the coat of arms, with the message: "Wishing you a very happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year."
Non-Christian religious leaders receive a card wishing them a "safe and happy holiday season". About 500 cards are hand-signed by Ms Gillard and the rest have an electronic signature.
Oxfam Shop's general manager, Julia Sumner, said they were extremely grateful prominent people such as the PM used their custom-designed cards.
