A REPORT into the electricity industry will press the state and federal governments to go further on electricity reform than the package on the table at Friday's Council of Australian Governments meeting in Canberra.
The report, released today by the Grattan Institute, calls for government-owned businesses to face tougher corporate governance standards to improve their efficiency standards. It argues the returns for government-owned businesses are too high compared with the risks they face.
