THE future of the Murray-Darling Basin Authority is in doubt after South Australia's Labor government slashed its funding, sparking confusion in Canberra.
Water Minister Tony Burke, who along with Julia Gillard last month bent to South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill's demands for the basin plan, yesterday said he had never been as "shocked" as he was by state Labor's decision, announced in its mid-year budget review.
