It was more like one of those preselections in the old days of Australia's ... - The Australian



TODAY'S the day we get to know who runs China for the next 10 years or so. Does it make any difference?



The version of an election held yesterday at the conclusion of the National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party by its newly chosen central committee, most crucially of the members of the Politburo Standing Committee -- the nine, or possibly seven, men (no woman has yet been appointed) who effectively rule the country -- was not even a primary, in US terms.
