SOME weeks ago I examined last year's census results to see who was doing the most unpaid housework. The answer was unequivocal: between the ages of 25 and 64 women spend twice as much time as men doing housework.
This week I want to look at who is doing paid work outside the home. On average, 59 per cent of men work 40 or more hours every week, roughly double the proportion of women (31 per cent) working these long hours. Almost one-quarter of men (24 per cent) work 49+ hours per week compared with 9 per cent of women.
