LABOR last night appointed the head of Communications Minister Stephen Conroy's department as the new Productivity Commission chairman, prompting warnings from the Coalition about overtly political appointments.
Cabinet ticked off last night on installing Peter Harris, secretary of the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, as the new productivity tsar. He replaces the widely respected Gary Banks.
