GROUP NINE

GROUP Nine representative star Robbie Byatt yesterday confirmed speculation he will part ways with Tumbarumba in favour of a move to the Canberra domestic competition next season.

Arguably the best defensive centre in Group Nine, the Greens star has agreed to terms with West Belconnen and will make the move to Canberra early next year.

The loss of Byatt is a huge blow to the Greens, but coach Simon Vanzanten insists the club is in talks with a former Melbourne Storm junior to fill the position.

Vanzanten insists the Greens are hot on the trail of several significant signings to be announced within a week to 10 days.

Meanwhile, Cootamundra star Luke Berkrey yesterday admitted he is "tossing up" his options for next season.

One year after returning to the Bulldogs, Berkrey has been linked to rival club Gundagai but admits he is undecided about his playing future.

"I don't know yet, it's a bit up in the air at the moment," he said yesterday.

Continuing its fierce recruitment drive, Southcity has further bolstered its pack with the signature of New Zealand man-mountain Jaye Pukepuke.
