Productivity slump on the waterfront - The Australian

Waterfront labour costs have blown out to their highest level since the aftermath of the bitter Patrick dispute of the late 1990s.

Slump: Workforce productivity on the wharves has suffered a major setback. The competition watchdog has found that stevedoring labour costs have risen by 7.5 per cent in 2011-12 - the biggest rise since 1998-99 after the waterfront reforms to improve efficiency on the nation's wharves.
