Huawei vows greater openness - The Australian

Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei will today launch a fresh bid to "dispel the myths" about the company, which is banned on security grounds from working on the NBN.

Coms faiure: Huawei Australia chairman Admiral John Lord (ret) will address the National Press Club, declaring the company has failed to properly explain its operations to the world. The Chinese company has been banned from working on the NBN on the advice of ASIO and was recently labelled a security threat by the US Congress. But, in a speech extract obtained by Capital Circle, he says Huawei wants to help combat emerging cyber-threats. "Huawei has done a very poor job of communicating about ourselves, and we must take full responsibility for that."
