Canberra police have made their biggest drug bust on record, uncovering 28 kilograms of ice hidden in the body of a car.

The seizure was part of a long-running investigation into a crime syndicate which detectives allege was planning to ship the drugs to Victoria.

The drugs - worth $25 million on the street - were stashed inside bags and hidden in the boot and bodywork of the vehicle.

The sting didn't stop there with police discovering another kilo of ice and 500 tablets of suspected MDMA, 28 grams of cocaine, steroids and cash in subsequent raids on four properties across the city.
