GLOBAL resources giant Total Upstream has warned the Australian government risks seriously undermining foreign investment because of "a spiral of rising costs".
The French gas company's president, Yves-Louis Darricarrere, told Governor-General Quentin Bryce in a room full of high-powered Australian and French business leaders at the Academy Diplomatique in Paris that while Australia had many geographical and cultural advantages, the country had to make structural changes, particularly in the area of costs, labour issues and tendering processes to remain competitive.
